About

A little history...

Alfonse Grebel is a multidisciplinary artist from Antibes who created the fountain statue “La Baigneuse” in 1939 following a request from the city.

This famous statue of Juan-les-Pins is located on the Promenade du Soleil, facing the Bay of Cannes, the Lérins Islands and the Cap d'Antibes. The Hôtel Eden - La Baigneuse is located just behind the statue, it takes its name from it.

It is a stone statue, of Art Deco inspiration, representing a young naked woman, leaning on a low wall, her feet in the water.

It was installed here at the time of the revival of Juan-les-pins, to highlight the beautiful summer season. It is also an emblem of the occasional sales space, works of art sold on the sidewalk. La Baigneuse was restored in 1995.
